I started this business in 2023 with a simple goal: to offer reliable, high-quality stump grinding and outdoor services that people in Northern Michigan can count on. As someone who’s always enjoyed working with my hands and being outside, building this business from the ground up has been a true labor of love.
What started with just a Vermeer SC30TX, and a truck has grown into a full-service operation thanks to hard work, loyal customers, and the support of my family— who are all involved in the business. We’re proud to be a family-run company that values honesty, professionalism, and a job done right the first time.
Every day, I’m out in the field alongside my crew, making sure we leave each property better than we found it. Whether we’re grinding stumps, cleaning up brush, or tackling custom outdoor projects, we approach every job with the same level of care and commitment.

Hi, I’m Kayla Coates – Office Manager at Mitch’s Stump Grinding & Outdoor Services.
Born and raised in Boyne City, Northern Michigan has always been home to me. I’m proud to be part of this family-owned business that my husband, Mitchel, created from the ground up. While he’s out in the field delivering top-notch outdoor services, I help keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

From scheduling jobs and managing customer communication to keeping the books in order, I wear a lot of hats—and I genuinely love every part of it. I’m passionate about staying organized, providing excellent customer care, and making sure each client has a seamless, stress-free experience from start to finish.
I’m always ready to step in wherever I’m needed. Don’t be surprised if you see me out on the job site—this business is truly a team effort, and I’m proud to be part of it. Being surrounded by hard work, family, and community support means the world to me, and I’m so grateful for the support we’ve received as we continue to grow.

Now, I’m proud to help share that story with you online! I manage our social media—posting project updates, helpful tips, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of our work across Northern Michigan.
My goal is to keep things informative, down-to-earth, and true to who we are as a local, family-run business. Thank you so much for following along and supporting us—it truly means the world.
